Dear Esteemed Guests and Participants,

Industrialization having been promoted from the 18th century has improved material affluence. This is being achieved by using natural resources and discharging wastes to nature in the process of producing/distributing/consuming goods and services. Nature has a limited capacity to provide humans with resources and to absorb the wastes discharged by humans. This limitation is termed the carrying capacity of nature.

World Resources Institute has reported that as of 2000, the carrying capacity of nature has exceeded 2.50 times at a global level. The various current environmental problems such as resource depletion and climate change, etc. are the evidences.

Nature can exist without humans, but humans can’t survive without nature. This is why the existence mode of human survival should not exceed the carrying capacity of nature. In this context, the Earth Environment Summit 1992 has adopted sustainable development as the way of human existence mode within the carrying capacity of nature.

The theme of Recycling 2025, Recycling and Waste Management is a core means to achieve sustainable development through saving natural resources and less generation and discharge of wastes, which are the two main conceptual components of the carrying capacity of nature.

In such a context, it is no doubt that Recycling 2025 will be directly a significant and important platform for advancing the knowledge and technology of this field through presentation and discussions, but indirectly for contributing to sustainable development at a global level through providing the advanced knowledge and technology applicable to the field.

We are deeply honored to host the distinguished assembly of experts, policymakers, enterprisers, NGOs, and thought leaders, etc. who will contribute their invaluable insights.

With warm regards,
